Who we are:

In 1992, the 18 AAA's in Oregon established The Oregon Association of Area Agencies on Aging [O4A] as a non-profit organization that would represent their collective issues at the Oregon State Capitol. In 1998, in order to better reflect its membership and services to persons with disabilities, our name was changed to The Oregon Association of Area Agencies on Aging and Disabilities {O4AD}.

O4AD members support some of the activities of this professional organization through the payment of annual dues based on Title XIX and OAA dollars. O4AD also generates its own income by hosting training conferences and Quarterly Business meetings.

O4AD has an Executive Committee comprised of the Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary/Treasurer, Conference Co-Chairs, Legislative Chairs [federal and state], Senior Issues Committee Chair, and Disability Issues Chair.

Vision Statement:

The Oregon Association of Area Agencies on Aging and Disabilities is committed to promoting the independence, dignity, choice, quality and safety of Oregon's seniors and persons with disabilities.

Our purpose:

Participation by elderly and persons with disabilities, formulate and promote legislation and policy of value to seniors and persons with disabilities.

Promotion of effective communication between governmental bodies, agencies, providers and other human services coalitions.

Activities that help us meet our objectives include:

  1. State-wide training conference every other year
  2. Quarterly Business Meetings
  3. Participation in Committees sponsored by SDSD, internal, and other advocacy groups
  4. State-wide advocacy trainings, promotion of grass-roots efforts

While membership to O4AD is limited to AAA's, we welcome input and participation from our staff, from consumers and advocates and from our partners in the field of senior and disabled services. It is our goal to maintain professional standards for all members and staff , to honor and promote diversity, and to continuously improve in customer and partner satisfaction.
