County Veterans Services Officers (CVSO) are critical to providing services to our Veterans in Oregon. CVSOs assist veterans and their dependents in procuring the Federal Veterans benefits due to them and help vets avoid dependence on Medicaid and other social services.

OPI Talking Points Page 1. Funding is currently at $8.5 million, and in the recent past was $17 million. OPI saves money, has less administrative overhead, and keeps people out of the more expensive Medicaid system. We must fund OPI adequately and modernize it.

Oregon Project Independence is a critical program that helps approximately 2,000 seniors remain safely in their own homes and delay premature institutionalization. In this legislative session, we seek to adequately fund OPI, which has been cut from the Governor’s proposed budget, and to modernize OPI so that we may serve younger people with physical disabilities who require similar services to remain independent.
